Welcome you to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Latina/Latino Alumni Association! We have been working diligently to establish a strong foundation of an association that will reflect the strength and varied experiences of the Latina/Latino community at the University of Illinois.
We acknowledge the sacrifices that our predecessors have made. We appreciate the family members, the friendships, the fellow students, the faculty and community members who have shared our struggles and accomplishments during our years on campus and continue to do so even after our departure. We understand that we are here as the result of much support and personal effort and as a result we have formed to give our support to each other, to incoming students, and to our communities—locally, on campus, and globally. We invite you and challenge you to assist us in this great task as we build together a coalition of Illinois Alum. With enormous pride we observe the immense amount of talent among our people, our community, and our alumni. We have already begun to leave our legacies.
Officially Recognized
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Latina/Latino Alumni Association (UIUC-LLAA) was informally established in late 2008 and then formally recognized as an affiliate of the University of Illinois Alumni Association in mid-2009. Led in its first year by a combined Steering Committee/Board of Directors as well as an Executive Board, bylaws and functional committees have been established, and the organization is actively recruiting members.
