Living Future: Building Sustainable Futures

It was over 3 years ago that we set our sights on raising $25,000 to initiate our Endowment Fund. Currently we are $20 away from $30,000 in that fund!   LLAA set a new goal of $50,000 over the next 3 years.  This money will grow exponentially over time so that our future LatinX students have viable options to reach their graduation. We also set a $5,000 goal to raise money for our General Scholarship fund that are available to our immigrant superstars.

This year’s theme for the Scholarship Gala is “Living Future: Building Sustainable Futures”.  A sincere thank you to the 2017 Keynote Speaker, Alicia Ponce-Nuñez Founder and Principal of APMonarch LLC who largely contributed to focusing our theme and reminding us of how our experiences within Latinx and POC communities must learn to regenerate. Leveraging our obstacles for sustainable futures.  With a passion for sustainability, Alicia’s experience has offered support to a large number of clients through design and education. Since founding APMonarch in 2007, she has successfully executed many residential and commercial projects. She has facilitated LEED & Living Building Challenge projects and has been the recipient of a travel grant to participate in a Sustainability Professional Training in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Her approach is to listen, engage and deploy in order to create beautiful living and learning laboratories around us.

Mil gracias to our amazing past Keynote Speakers who continue to support LLAA Familia:

Sylvia Puente, Executive Director of Latino Policy Forum and they just launched their 2018 Multicultural Leadership Academy due Sept 21st.

Jose A. Rico, Former Director of White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, Executive Director of United Way, and current LLAA Board Member.

Jesse Ruiz, Corporate & Securities Partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP

Pedro J. Cevallos-Candau, 2015 Chicago Illini of the Year; Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, Primera Engineers, Ltd.
