Luis is an accomplished engineer with an extensive track record spanning over 12 years in the aerospace and wireless communications domains. Renowned for his remarkable contributions to innovation and global connectivity, he specializes in crafting advanced communication systems for autonomous airborne platforms and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Luis has orchestrated groundbreaking initiatives for prominent mobile operators, solutions providers, and consulting agencies across North America, South America, Africa, and Asia. He engineered connectivity efforts of diverse communities and towns worldwide, successfully implementing multi-million-dollar telecommunications infrastructure initiatives. Luis is currently a technical leader and senior engineer at Altaeros – an MIT startup that created the world's first autonomous airborne platform to connect rural areas and isolated communities. He is a Fulbright Scholar, Gies Scholar, and a University of Illinois Academic Award recipient. Luis earned a Master of Science in Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science in Telecommunication Networks from Northeastern University. Luis is a senior member of the IEEE, a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, a TEDx speaker, and a TOYP award recipient. He is a design and education enthusiast and enjoys traveling the world capturing its beauty as a drone pilot and photographer. |
