The first event is a Webinar, while the other events are based at the Illini Center in Chicago. These events focus on different aspects of being an entrepreneur and help bring alumni entrepreneurs together, so please view linked web pages for additional details and to register.

Have you thought about owning your own business? The future of careers and income opportunities in America is shifting toward small companies and having an entrepreneurial mindset. This only reinforces the well-known fact that small business has been the driving force of the economy prior to and during the Great Recession’s rebound. Our panelists will present expert advice and relate their experiences to help you learn more about what it’s like to decide on self-employment, and then to develop and execute a plan. You’ll hear from alumni in different who are self-employed, independent contractors and small business owners and an adviser to prospective entrepreneurs. We'll have time for questions, from the on-site and virtual audience.

This workshop series by Lema Khorshid ’01 BUS (UI), Founding Partner and Attorney with Fuksa Khorshid, LLC, is designed to provide you with valuable business and legal insight that will help you succeed through the multiple stages of your entrepreneurial venture. From launching your business to growing your brand and eventually selling your company, there are key legal aspects that you must consider. In our three-part workshop series, we will help you develop a deeper understanding of the business and legal concepts you need to grasp as you embark on your entrepreneurial venture.

The UI Alumni Association's Alumni Career Center invites alumni entrepreneurs to join us for the Alumni Connections After 5 networking event. Alumni Connections After 5 provides University of Illinois professionals, from our 3 campuses (Chicago, Springfield, and Urbana) an opportunity to meet up with fellow alumni and create new professional connections along the way. The November 11th networking event targets alumni entrepreneurs, small business owners, and those looking for their next opportunity within an entrepreneurial environment.
